Malaga continues to strengthen its position as a global travel hub with the announcement that Saudia Airlines is adding the city to its summer 2025 route network. From 11 June to 30 August, the Saudi flag carrier will operate three weekly flights between Malaga and Riyadh, flying on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
Though Malaga has been on Saudia’s schedule since 2018, this summer marks a renewed strategic emphasis as part of the airline’s broader international expansion. The route will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering 290 seats and a premium onboard experience that reflects the airline’s commitment to comfort and authentic Saudi hospitality.
This development comes amid a 16% year-on-year growth in international passenger traffic for the airline, which currently operates over 500 daily flights and is preparing to expand its fleet by 118 additional aircraft.
Malaga joins a strong lineup of new seasonal destinations including Vienna, Venice, Athens, Heraklion, Nice, Larnaca, Antalya, Bali, Salalah, and El Alamein — bringing Saudia’s total network to over 100 destinations across four continents.
“Following last year’s operational success, we’ve launched a strategic plan for 2025 focused on customer-centric growth,” said Ibrahim Al-Omar, CEO of Saudia Group. “Our new destinations reflect detailed market studies and a dedication to providing seamless, high-quality travel experiences.”
For Malaga, this route not only increases direct connectivity to the Middle East but also further reinforces the Costa del Sol’s appeal to international property investors, tourists, and business travellers alike.
